Renishaw introduces innovative laser tool setting system

The introduction of the new NC4 laser tool-aligning probe greatly enriches the variety of Renishaw non-contact laser tool setting systems
The NC4 tool setting system features ultra-small laser transmitters and receivers with a specification of only 30 mm (diameter) x 35 mm (height) for fast non-contact tool and tool breakage detection where previously not available.
The NC4 system is also ideal for retrofitting equipment.
The NC4 system enables high repeatability tool setting operations up to 5 meters apart. Depending on the spacing, tools with a diameter as small as 0.2 mm can be measured at any selected point of the laser beam and damage can be detected for tools as small as 0.1 mm.
The housing of the NC4 laser tool probe is sturdy stainless steel and is packaged in an IPX8 standard for use in extremely harsh machine environments. The MicroHoleTM protection system uses continuous compressed airflow to provide uninterrupted protection from metal debris, coolant and graphite, even during measurement. In the event of a gas supply failure, an innovative fail-safe seal prevents contamination and IPX8 seal protection standards.
With the addition of a range of features, the installation and setup of the NC4 system is simple. The structure of the split system is very simple, with only one transmitter and receiver. Users can easily adapt to the distance of the separate system by simply replacing a replaceable part on the transmitter and receiver unit. The system setup is easy because there is no need to identify the laser focus; the new visible LEDs are mounted on top of the transmitter unit to show the system's operating status in real time.
The NC4 tool setting has a fixed system and a separate system: 300 mm for fixed systems and 5 m for separate systems.
