Researchers at the Moscow State Iron and Steel Institute of the Russian National Research University have developed nanometer micropore hole-forming technology on the surface of graphene wafers by their colleagues outside the United Nations to control the aperture of the nanopore. The successful development of this technology opens up broader prospects for graphene applications. The corresponding results were published in the "Carbon" academic journal.
The researchers first studied theoretically the mechanism of nanopore pore formation on the surface of graphene flakes under accelerated ionization and the relationship between pore size and ion energy. The experiment is to bombard graphene flakes at different energies with ions of different mass elements such as carbon, oxygen, silicon, gold, iodine, scandium, and yttrium. Ion bombardment energy is adjustable, and its maximum energy can reach 91 trillion electron volts. The experimental results show that the energy of the ion determines the pore size of the nanopore on the surface of the graphene sheet. The pore size of the nanopore formed can be set by adjusting the bombardment energy of the ion and make it vary between 1-4 nanometers. The study of this achievement has taken an important step towards the specific structure orientation of graphene materials.
Now, researchers of global graphene materials are researching and exploring methods for the controllable modification of graphene, including methods for generating defects in its structure, in order to change the microelectronic and conductive properties of graphene, and through induction. It has magnetic properties. Russian researchers are refining the process to form nano-micropores with controlled distances on the surface of the graphene sheet, which can be turned into semiconductor materials for use in the microelectronics industry.
