China's polysilicon production increased by 100% from January to June

According to the data of the Electronics Division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the upstream materials, as of the end of June 2014, the number of polysilicon production companies increased from 7 at the beginning of last year to 16; polysilicon production was 62,000 tons, up 100% year-on-year; imported polysilicon was 45,900 tons, up 17 %, the import value of 1 billion US dollars, an increase of 38.8%.

In terms of price, the average price of polysilicon in the first half of the year increased by 29.3% year-on-year, compared with 18 US dollars/ton in the same period of last year. The average price of polysilicon imports this year was about US$21/ton. The main importing countries were concentrated in Germany, South Korea, the United States and Taiwan. Germany imported about 14,991 tons, up 22% year-on-year. South Korea imported 13,775 tons, up 51% year-on-year. US imports were 10030 tons, down by 19.6% year-on-year. Taiwan's imports were 4,755 tons, up 72.4% year-on-year.

On the enterprise side, polysilicon manufacturers, such as GCL-Poly, Daxin Energy, TBEA, and Savi, have made domestic polysilicon production and sales more and more concentrated, especially in the state of GCL-Poly. In this situation, 2014 In the first half of the year, GCL-Poly sales revenue was HK$17.22 billion, and gross profit reached HK$3.68 billion, an increase of over 400% over the same period of the previous year.

According to Shu Hua, CEO of GCL-Poly, from the polysilicon manufacturing process, GCL-Poly has reduced its process technology cost to less than US$14 in Siemens. In October, the product will be off-line FB2, and the cost will be less than US$8. Such a silicon cost is falling rapidly.

He added: "In addition to the advancement in crystal growth technology and wafer cutting technology, it will provide efficiency contribution and cost contribution to the downstream battery manufacturing process, which will expand our global commercialization."

The output of silicon wafers is 18GW, and Taiwan is the largest exporter.
