Invalidation of Diesel Generator Set Starter Drive Gears Failing to Engage Flywheel Ring Gears

When the diesel engine is started, it can hear the operation sound of the electromagnetic switch and the high-speed rotation sound of the drive gear, but the diesel generator flywheel does not rotate. This failure is usually caused by the fact that the drive gear and the flywheel ring gear are not engaged or the starter drive gear slips. The overhaul method is as follows:

1. If this type of failure is encountered, it should be started again for the second or third time. If the fault cannot be corrected, use a screwdriver to adjust the adjusting screw at the lower left end of the electromagnetic switch of the starter so that the drive gear meshes with the flywheel ring gear. If after the above adjustment, the fault is not repaired, the starter should be disassembled and the flywheel ring gear and the drive gear inside the starter should be inspected.

2. After inspection, the starter's drive gear and flywheel ring gear are in good condition, and the two cannot be meshed together at start-up. The starter still idling and has a metal crash sound, which should be resolved by the starter. If it is found that the distance between the two protrusions of the fork is too large after the decomposition, the driving mechanism cannot be toggled into place, and the hand press is applied to reduce the distance between the two protrusions. If the bump wears badly or one side of the bump wears badly or one side of the bump breaks, it can be treated by welding.

3. If the fork is at a proper distance, the drive gear can mesh with the flywheel ring gear. However, if the starter still experiences high-speed idling, use one hand to hold the armature and use the other hand to turn the gear. If clockwise, When turning counterclockwise, it means that the drive mechanism works well; if both clockwise and counterclockwise can rotate, the drive mechanism is damaged and it should be replaced with new one.
