Summary of oxygen index of various plastics

The oxygen index, abbreviated as OI, is the minimum oxygen concentration required for a sample to maintain a steady combustion in a mixed gas stream of oxygen and nitrogen under specified conditions, expressed as a percentage by volume of oxygen.
A high oxygen index indicates that the material is not easily combusted, and a low oxygen index indicates that the material is easily burned. It is generally considered that the oxygen index <22 is a flammable material, the oxygen index is a combustible material between 22 and 27, and the oxygen index is >27 is a flame retardant material.
