Recently, Japanese battery maker Toshiba announced that they have successfully developed a new generation of automotive lithium-ion batteries that can travel for 320 kilometers in only 6 minutes and are expected to be commercially available in 2019.
Toshiba’s official announced that it has successfully developed a new generation of lithium-ion battery for vehicles. This battery is abbreviated as SCiB. It is an upgraded version of Toshiba's Super Lithium-Ion electronic battery introduced in 2008. Under the test of Japan's JC08 standard, the battery can travel for 320 kilometers in just 6 minutes.

At present, the traditional lithium battery of an electric vehicle takes an average of 30 minutes to charge 80% of the electricity. In addition to charging for 6 minutes, the battery can reach 90% of capacity and travel 320 kilometers. After charging and discharging 5000 times, it can still be used. Keep more than 90% of battery capacity. Compared with the conventional lithium ion electronic battery, it is prone to slow charging at a low temperature. The battery can also be charged quickly in a low temperature environment of minus 10°, and it can still be used under minus 30°.
It is understood that Toshiba's successful research and development of the battery uses a lithium-lithium ion battery with a titanium-germanium oxide anode material, and its lithium-off electron storage capacity is twice that of a graphite lithium-ion battery. In addition, a new generation of SCiB batteries is expected to be commercially available in 2019.
However, it is not just Toshiba that announced that it is a battery manufacturer that has realized fast battery charging. Samsung is also demonstrating the latest automotive battery products at the 2018 North American Auto Show. It can achieve a fast battery charge of 20 minutes and a cruising range of 600 kilometers. In addition, Samsung Electronics also demonstrated the "Graphene Ball" technology, which is 45% more capacity and 5 times faster than standard lithium-ion batteries and solid-state batteries.
With the continuous development of new energy vehicles, the demand for lithium batteries is also increasing. Currently, Panasonic, LG Chem, and Samsung Electronics still dominate the current global high-performance lithium battery market. The major battery manufacturers are establishing cooperative strategies with old and traditional car companies and numerous start-up companies, and the competition in this field will become even fiercer in the future.
Our LED Emergency Twin Spot Lights are a cost effective replacement for old fashioned halogen emergency twin spot fittings. Due to the low power consumption of the LED lamps, only one battery is required, reducing option during charging.
