According to a news provider from Gazprom, Gazprom will deliver 6 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey each year between 2013 and 2030.
Through cooperation with small-scale private gas companies, Russian gas is now seeking to make up for the decline in its exports of natural gas to Europe. In the first quarter of this year, the volume of natural gas exported from Russia to Europe fell by 20% year-on-year, compared with a year-on-year drop of 13% in the first half of this year.
Under Turkish law, private companies that have not signed a gas supply contract have no right to distribute natural gas. So far, the Russian gas has refused to cooperate with companies that do not have proper licenses. However, the downturn in exports seems to have made Russian gas more flexible on this issue.
