[Real Time] 119 Fire Day: Eliminating Fire Hazards and Building Peaceful China

In 1992, the Ministry of Public Security issued a notice to set November 9 as the day of fire prevention, and November of each year as the fire safety awareness month. Taking the “119 Fire Fighting Month” as an opportunity to focus on a period of time to carry out a wide range of diverse forms of fire safety publicity activities to raise the awareness of the people in fire safety and promote the socialization of firefighting work.

The origin of firefighting day

The past fire call in our country was “09,” because before the 1970s, China’s special communications were “0”. In the late 1970s, China's communication service number was changed from "0" to "11." According to the requirements of standardization management, the fire telephone number was uniformly designated as "119", which is a homonym for Chinese "to be saved." Because every year, "119" is the day for firefighting in China. Actually, this day has become China's firefighting festival.
