Shell and Cosan build ethanol joint venture in Brazil

Shell recently signed an agreement with Brazil's sugar cane and ethanol company Cosan. The two companies will create a joint venture to engage in sugarcane ethanol production and power generation in Brazil. Shell said that the joint venture will supply industrial and transportation fuels externally through a joint distribution and retail network and seek opportunities to produce and sell ethanol and sugar globally. The joint venture's ethanol production capacity will exceed 2 billion liters/year, ranking among the top in the world.
