In 2015, the General Office of the People's Government of Yunnan Province issued the â€œImplementation Opinions on Accelerating the Promotion and Application of New Energy Vehiclesâ€. The â€œOpinionsâ€ pointed out that taking the implementation of the national new energy vehicle development strategy as an opportunity to take advantage of the promotion and application of new energy vehicles in the demonstration city groups in Yunnan Province. Point, pure electric drive as the main strategic orientation of the development of new energy vehicles, focusing on the promotion of pure electric vehicles, plug-in (including extended-program) hybrid vehicles and fuel cell vehicles. Accelerate the pace of promotion and application of new energy vehicles and accelerate the development of new energy automobile industry.

At the same time, expand the application and field of new energy vehicles. Vehicles such as buses, taxis, official vehicles, sanitation vehicles, postal vehicles, logistics vehicles and special vehicles will be the key points for the promotion and application of new energy vehicles, and other application areas will be gradually expanded. Bus buses will be added or updated every year in each demonstration city. The proportion of new energy vehicles in official vehicles, sanitation vehicles and logistics vehicles is not less than 30%.

With the successful development of the first 12-meter pure electric bus in Yunnan Province in 2012, Yunnan Wulong Automobile (formerly American Bus) invested a total of 2.87 billion yuan in 2014 with an annual output of 100,000 new energy vehicles in Yunnan. Mengzi started construction. In 2015, Yuedi Group invested 1.5 billion yuan and the annual output of 100,000 electric vehicle projects officially settled in Qujing, Yunnan.

With the support of relevant national policies, Yunnan will vigorously build an automobile industry. By 2020, the annual production capacity of energy-saving and new energy commercial vehicles will reach 30,000, including 3,000 new energy vehicles; energy conservation will be achieved by 2020. The annual output of new energy commercial vehicles is 50,000. According to statistics, in 2015, the national electric vehicle sales exceeded 30 million units.

In 2015, the sales volume of electric bicycles in Yunnan Province exceeded 1 million units, and the number of electric bicycles in the province was close to 10 million.
