Strawberry fertilization can be divided into base fertilizer and top dressing.
(1) Base fertilizer: The cultivation density of strawberry is large, and it is not convenient to supplement fertilizer in the growing season. The base fertilizer is best applied once and combined with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to meet the nutrients needed for the whole growth cycle of strawberries. (2) Topdressing: The nutrients needed for the growth and development of the strawberry and the flowering result are supplemented by the application of quick-acting fertilizer. The number and frequency of top dressings depend on soil fertility and plant growth, and are about 3 to 4 times a year.
Strawberry early spring growth depends mainly on the first year of storage nutrition. However, it is necessary to raise the nutrient period from before and after germination to the bud stage. It should be combined with irrigation to carry out top dressing to promote the formation of early leaf area, which is conducive to flowering and fruit setting. Usually 7.5 to 10 kg of urea per mu, or 10-15 kg of compound fertilizer.
When the strawberry enters the flowering stage, a top dressing is required to meet the needs of plant growth and flowering. The topdressing fertilizer is mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer; the role of phosphorus is to promote root development and increase fruit yield. In the fruit expansion period, the initial production period and the high yield period, the topdressing is mainly nitrogen and potassium.
After harvesting the fruit, in order to supplement the nutrient loss caused by the growth result, topdressing should be carried out to restore the growth potential of the plant as soon as possible, while promoting the occurrence of stolons and new stems, promoting flower bud differentiation and enhancing the wintering ability of the plants. This time, the topdressing is generally indispensable, and it can be applied in shallow trenches.
